Sweet Cheyenne

A couple of my favorite features that Cheyenne has are her bushy tail and the tufts of fur in her paws.

Wild Thing?

Last week, we took The Cat to the vet for her yearly wellness exam and some necessary shots. I say "we" because I didn't think I could handle our little feline alone at the vet's office, so The Husband accompanied me. You see, our quirky cat turns into a wild animal when plopped onto a sterile countertop and handled by a man/woman in a white coat. Not only does she dislike the smell of "STRANGER!", but she also dislikes the feeling of a STRANGER touching her and poking her with sharp objects.

The moment the technician came in to the exam room to say hello, The Cat began to hiss ("Who the heck are YOU?"). Then, some very soft, sweet meowing ("I'm so scared!"). Then more hissing ("Don't come any closer!"). The tech left to get her vaccines ready and meanwhile, the vet came in. More hissing. He ordered for a blanket and gloves to be brought in. They threw the blanket over her head and body, forced her down against the countertop and gave her her shots as quickly as possible. I have never heard our cat make such viscious sounds. Hissing, growling, meowing, the works. It sounded like she was deep in the woods fighting with a bear. When it was all over, they had somehow managed to get The Cat to run into her carrier, where she was sitting quietly, ears back, not moving a muscle ("Get me out of here! NOW!"). I was seeing stars. One doesn't hear such noises on a regular basis. A bit disconcerting, especially when it's your own pet. She didn't make a peep the entire ride home ("I HATE you people! Don't EVER take me back there ever again!"). The second we let her out of the carrier and back into our condo, she was rolling all over the ground and begging us to pet her ("Bliss! My home! Ooooooo please pet my head!").

Well, at least she bounces back quickly.
