The Case of the Missing Keys
Nate picked me up from work yesterday and a couple of hours later we were off to a Christmas Party. But as we were heading out the door, we realized that neither of had the car keys. We did a hasty search with no luck and grabbed the spare keys so that we wouldn't be late.
When we returned from the party, our clothes and hair permeated with bonfire smoke, we performed another search . Still no keys. I was beginning to get concerned. What if someone found them and breaks into our house while we're out of town? (again, I have a "fertile" imagination.) But, the keys had to be inside. Which would mean that no one else could possibly have them. We retraced our steps by memory...
Nate and Char walked into the condo. Nate accidentally dropped the keys on the wood floors, creating a loud thud, and sending Cheyenne bolting across the living room floor where she sought refuge underneath the Christmas tree. Nate picked up the keys. And. Then.
This is where Nate's memory stopped. But, at least we knew the keys were inside the house, because neither of us went outside until we were leaving for the party, the point at which we discovered the keys were missing.
It was late, so we postponed the search until today. It occurred to me sometime at work that perhaps Nate accidentally threw the keys in the trash! I made a note to ask him to check. And I did, as soon as he picked me up.
While I was making dinner, Nate kept looking. Under the bed. In drawers. Under the couch. In the bookshelves. Ev-ery-where.
While I was doing the dishes, he continued looking. In the closet. Under the entertainment center. In the recycle bin.
I was in the process of scouring his sock drawer, while in the process taking the entire drawer out of the dresser and attempting to put it back on the runners without success, when I heard him say something in the kitchen.
"Wow. They really were in the trash."
He finally took my advice and looked in the trash can! There they were! How they got there? I guess we'll never know.
Now I can rest in peace.

TXCCC
Looking for another way to give this season or throughout the year? Perhaps you'd like to donate to the cause of finding better treatments and ways to care for children with cancer, who may be waking up on Christmas morning in a hospital bed connected to tubes and monitors, or who may not have a chance to live a normal childhood.
Texas Children's Cancer Center at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston is the #1 pediatric cancer hospital in Texas, and #4 in the nation. Much of the work that I do is associated with research projects taking place at the center, so I know firsthand that the work that they're doing is exceptionally important.
Click here to see a short video of how some of their physicians and scientists are impacting the lives of children and their families. Several of the physicians that you will see are a few who I have worked/work closely with.
Take a moment to browse www.txccc.org. Perhaps you will be able to find my personal page!

The Wall O' Cards has commenced!
Gift bows!

One of my favorite things about gift-giving is actually wrapping the gift. I'm not sure why, but I enjoy it.
I came across a great idea for making your own gift bows here. This is a fun way to spice up your gifts this season (or throughout the year)! The other thing I like about this is that my cat will not pounce on said paper bows. She will literally devour store-bought ribbon and bows. She can sniff out that stuff from a mile away, and has on multiple occasions ripped through bags to access it.
So go, and bring tidings of great joy to your friends and family, topped with a homemade bow!
